Wisconsin Builder Certification
The Wisconsin Department of Commerce has recently increased the credentials needed for a business to be certified to pull a building permit in the state.  Builders now need to obtain continuing education credits to maintain their status as a contractor eligible to apply for a building permit.
Although property owners can continue to apply for construction permits on their own without holding any type of certification, beware of a "contractor" who asks you as a homeowner to apply for the permit.  This may signal that the contractor you are working with does not carry insurance, follow building codes or have the credentials needed to protect you as a homeowner.  Working with an disreputable contractor could be a very costly mistake on your project.
Countrywide Construction, LLC is a fully licensed and certified contractor.  We feel that the codes and licensing that the Safety and Buildings Division of the Department of Commerce has in place are there to protect the consumer, which is also one of our top priorities.

Showcase of Homes, Spring 2007
This past May, Countrywide Construction opened the doors to one of our custom homes during the Door County Home Builders 2007 Showcase of Homes.  The home, located near Bailey's Harbor on the Lake Michigan shoreline, was designed and built by our company.
With over 4,000 square feet of living space on two floors we received many compliments on the uniqueness of the home, the detail of the home and cabinets, and the warmth of our team.  Some memorable features included the spiral stair in the Master Bedroom which led to a private 2nd floor sitting area, a diamond shaped two story foyer with a beautiful chandelier, the accessible home office, an impressive kitchen, the spacious second floor rooms and the two sided fireplace dividing the Great Room and Dining Area.  Windows along the shoreline brought the view of Lake Michigan into both the first and second stories.
We would like to thank all who attended, and look forward to seeing you again next year.
